Safe Haven for Newborns
Under Florida statute, a parent may leave an unharmed, newborn infant (up to seven days old) at a Safe Haven without fear of prosecution. Hospitals, fire stations and EMS facilities are considered Safe Havens. The Safe Haven for Newborns Helpline can assist with coordinating the Safe Haven option or provide other resources to protect the lives of both the mother and the infant.
