The purpose of the Farmworker Career Development Program is to provide career services and appropriate training leading to year-round, unsubsidized employment to eligible migrant and seasonal farmworkers in the shortest amount of time.” The goals of the FCDP are to improve the quality of life mainly for the farmworkers and their dependents in Collier and Hendry counties with: 1.Assistance with Career Pathway Development that leads to unsubsidized permanent employment or self-employment. 2.To provide job placement and counseling to farmworkers and their dependents. 3.To align the skills of the FCDP participants to the needs of the labor force. 4.To provide the participants with support to overcome the socio-economic and educational barriers that prevents them from obtaining training and employment. 5.To support the participants with job related expenses and counseling for successful retention. Through the use of a Career Planning and providing Career Guidance the FCDP can assist farmworkers and their dependents in achieving a success career. The goal is not just a job, but a career.
